Colour Block
Spring is a time for colour and outlandish prints, and Louis Vuitton have gone all out. Their Spring/Summer 2013 collection features vibrant colours and intrepid prints that work strangely well together.
The most influential colours in some of their pieces are yellow and white, typical Spring colours. Yet, as typical as the colours may be, Vuitton has taken notes from the 1960’s trend and re-vamped it. In the 1960’s, most outfits were bright and bold, with splashes of colour and magnificent designs. This concept worked for all pieces of clothing including trousers, jackets and dresses.
Now, in 2013, designers have taken the same concept and added a twist. Some things have changed, for example as opposed to standard high necklines, the outfits of this season now feature square cut necklines, lower necklines and low V lines. Dresses for this season have also become a lot more box shape, yet they work nonetheless. Vuitton has paired outfits up with pointed-mid heels, straight out of the 1960’s box.
The odd repetition of the prints seems to work seemingly effectively, with most styles featuring the classic Louis Vuitton Damier print. In my opinion, the only way to finish off these outfits is to add large round lens sunglasses. This will give a real vintage/1960’s theme this season
